The White House said on Thursday that President Donald Trump was "not happy" with overnight Russian missile and drone strikes against Ukraine but was "not surprised" by the escalation, according to press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Reuters reported that the attacks killed at least 15 people and damaged several buildings in Kyiv, including the British Council. The strikes follow a period of heightened hostilities after Ukraine’s recent hit on Russian oil refineries. Leavitt added that Trump, who met Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this month in Anchorage as part of efforts to negotiate an end to the war, will issue a further statement on the situation later today. She said neither Putin nor Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appears prepared to halt the conflict at this stage.
