The United States is weighing whether to withhold or adjust the intelligence it shares with Kyiv as a form of pressure to secure an agreement aimed at ending the conflict with Russia, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal. The newspaper said Washington views its detailed battlefield and strategic intelligence as a critical lever over Ukraine. Curtailing that flow, even partially, could push President Volodymyr Zelenskiy’s government toward concessions it has so far resisted, the report added. The Journal did not specify what kind of deal the Biden administration has in mind, nor did it indicate that a final decision has been taken. U.S. officials have publicly maintained that support for Ukraine remains firm, supplying both military aid and real-time intelligence since Russia’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Among the various pressure mechanisms the U.S. could apply against Ukraine to encourage Kyiv to agree to a potentially disadvantageous deal is intelligence sharing. Follow our live updates: https://t.co/OKNw4Cnjab
