Ukraine’s Security Service said it has arrested a Ukrainian Air Force major in the western city of Lviv on suspicion of spying for Russia’s Federal Security Service. Investigators allege the officer was recruited by his former wife, now an FSB operative in Russian-occupied Melitopol, and passed coordinates of airfields and logistics hubs that could be used to guide missile strikes against Ukrainian forces. The major has been charged with high treason, an offence that carries a potential life sentence under Ukrainian law. In a separate announcement, the agency reported detaining the leadership of a military battalion in Odesa oblast, including its former commander. They are accused of embezzling funds by enrolling local businessmen and acquaintances on the unit’s rolls so they could avoid conscription. Both investigations are continuing, the SBU said.
