Russian authorities have reported the discovery of a cache of chemical weapons in the Donetsk People's Republic, attributed to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) stated the cache was found near the village of Ilinka and included improvised explosive devices designed to be dropped from drones and loaded with chloropicrin, a chemical agent prohibited under the Chemical Weapons Convention. The explosives combined plastic explosives with chloropicrin to maximize harmful effects. The FSB noted that the use of such chemical substances for military purposes constitutes a violation of Article I of the Chemical Weapons Convention. A criminal case was opened under Article 355 for the development and possession of weapons of mass destruction. The FSB also cited previous findings of chloropicrin use in the Donetsk area. Separately, Russian security services detained two individuals, born in 1993 and 1995, in the Bryansk region, accusing them of collaborating with Ukrainian special services. The suspects allegedly received explosives, weapons, and instructions via drones and Telegram, conducted surveillance of military and police sites, and assembled improvised explosive devices. Authorities recovered FPV drones with drop systems, a Makharov pistol with silencer, spectral frequency analyzer, 3D goggles, drone controller, detonators, and other equipment during searches. The suspects reportedly confessed and face charges of treason and illegal handling of explosives.
