Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Kyiv needs comprehensive and “very practical” security guarantees from the United States and its allies as a condition for any peace agreement with Russia. Asked during a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump what form those assurances should take, Zelenskiy replied “everything,” listing a well-equipped Ukrainian army, weapons supplies, training missions, intelligence sharing and, if necessary, American troops. Zelenskiy added that the package of assurances should also include a clear path toward European Union membership. Trump responded that Washington would “help with that,” but offered no details on the scope or timeline of any U.S. commitment. European leaders are now pressing both sides for clarity on the proposed guarantees.
