'NOBODY can stop Ukraine' from joining EU claims Zelensky Does admit it’s a 'sensitive question' but 'anyway, we will manage it' Hungary’s PM Orban doubled down on his veto of Ukraine's EU bid just last week https://t.co/TRgWmbY0l4 https://t.co/m8pALzgg7I
🇪🇺🇺🇦 VON DER LEYEN TO ZELENSKY: “EUROPE STANDS FIRMLY BY YOUR SIDE” “Europe will continue to stand firmly by your side. For a just and lasting peace. For a sovereign nation that shapes its own future. For a country that belongs in the European Union." Source: @vonderleyen https://t.co/5dBn6cHkoK https://t.co/yrQngtRoxv
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on 3 July that “no country will be able to stop Ukraine on its path to joining the European Union,” while acknowledging that the decision still requires unanimous approval from all EU member states. He described the matter as “delicate,” noting Kyiv “needs the support of all EU members” and will do “everything in our power” to secure it. Zelensky’s comments follow Hungary’s renewed opposition to the accession process. Prime Minister Viktor Orban reiterated his veto of Ukraine’s EU bid last week, leaving Budapest as the main hold-out as the bloc weighs whether to open formal membership talks with Kyiv. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reiterated Brussels’ backing on Wednesday, telling Zelensky that “Europe will continue to stand firmly by your side… for a country that belongs in the European Union.”
