A group of anti-Trump demonstrators marched through downtown Washington, D.C., on 4 July, heading toward the White House. Organised in part by the activist network Refuse Fascism, participants chanted “Trump must go now” and carried Antifa flags as well as placards reading “86-47 No Kings,” a reference critics interpret as a call to remove the 47th president, Donald Trump, from office. The Independence Day protest appeared peaceful, and no major clashes or arrests were reported in the initial hours of the march. Police did not immediately provide an estimate of attendance.
