Hundreds of pro-Palestinian demonstrators massed outside the White House on 7 July as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with President Donald Trump. The protests, which began the previous evening, coincided with Netanyahu’s third visit to Washington this year and continued while the leaders held talks inside the executive mansion. Organised by groups including American Muslims for Palestine, CODEPINK and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the crowd waved Palestinian flags, chanted “Free Palestine” and demanded an immediate, permanent cease-fire in Gaza. Some protesters wore prison-style costumes depicting Netanyahu and held placards reading “Wanted” while calling for an end to US military support for Israel. Speakers highlighted the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu on alleged war-crimes charges and cited Palestinian figures that put Gaza’s death toll above 57,400 since October 2023. Police closed streets around Lafayette Square, but the demonstration remained largely peaceful. Inside the White House, Trump told reporters he intended to press Netanyahu to secure a hostage-release and cease-fire agreement with Hamas, saying there was a “good chance” a deal could be reached. Netanyahu’s wider agenda reportedly included discussions on Iran and regional security.
