Trump Administration Revokes Washington DC Sanctuary City Status, Homan Says

Washington, D.C. will no longer operate as a sanctuary city for unauthorized immigrants now that the capital is under federal control, Border Czar Tom Homan said on Wednesday. “D.C. under federal control is not going to be a ‘sanctuary’ city. When we encounter a criminal alien, they’ll be turned over to ICE,” he told Fox News, confirming the policy shift under President Donald Trump’s administration. Homan said federal authorities, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the National Guard, will work alongside the Metropolitan Police Department to identify and detain undocumented immigrants with criminal records. He predicted the effort would produce “more deportations … than you’ve seen in the past,” underscoring a broader clampdown on so-called sanctuary policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
