President Donald Trump on 13 Aug. publicly called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to open investigations into former secretary of state Hillary Clinton and Representative Adam Schiff, saying he “hopes something’s going to be done” about their alleged role in what he described as the “Russia, Russia, Russia” hoax. Speaking at an event in Washington, the president argued that the 2017–19 Russia-related probes undermined U.S. national security by limiting his administration’s ability to engage Moscow. “These people put our country in danger,” Trump said, adding that the inquiries were “all made up.” Bondi, who has not yet commented on the request, would have to decide whether any new evidence warrants criminal action. Clinton and Schiff have long rejected Trump’s assertions, and multiple earlier investigations, including Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s inquiry, did not establish a conspiracy between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia.
