Trump Threatens Baltimore Bridge Funds, Troop Deployment in Clash With Gov. Moore
President Donald Trump on Sunday threatened to reconsider federal funding for the reconstruction of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge and said he could send troops to Maryland, escalating a public feud with Governor Wes Moore. Trump’s warnings followed a letter from the Democratic governor inviting him to “walk our streets” to see recent declines in crime. The bridge, destroyed in March 2024 when a container ship struck a support pier, is slated to cost about $1.9 billion to replace. Congress released an initial $60 million in emergency relief last year, and Maryland aims to reopen the span by 2028. Moore said withdrawing the money would endanger a project that underpins roughly 20,000 jobs and $7 billion in annual commerce at the Port of Baltimore. Moore rejected Trump’s depiction of the city as “crime-ridden,” citing a 24 % drop in homicides last year that pushed killings to a 50-year low. The dispute intensified after Trump claimed Moore privately called him “the greatest president of my lifetime” at the 2024 Army–Navy football game; Fox News footage released Monday shows no such praise, and the governor said the conversation “never happened.” Trump has already deployed more than 2,200 National Guard members to nearby Washington and has floated similar action in Baltimore, Chicago and New York.

On the one hand, there is zero evidence in this clip of Trump and Moore, of Moore calling Trump "the greatest president ever". So... another Trump lie? On the other hand, why on earth is Wes Moore so happy and excited to meet Trump? What is wrong with these Dems?? https://t.co/piAcGJyxiu
