California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that he has received roughly two dozen baseball caps emblazoned with the slogan “Trump 2028,” a reference to former President Donald Trump. Newsom told reporters the caps have arrived at his office and residence “again and again,” describing the deliveries as an apparent prank by Trump supporters. The hats allude to a third Trump presidential bid even though the Constitution bars a former two-term president from seeking the office again. The slogan has also surfaced on online prediction-market Polymarket, where traders currently assign Trump higher implied odds of winning the 2028 election than Vice President Kamala Harris, underscoring the lingering enthusiasm among parts of the Republican base. Trump himself has not commented on either the betting line or the hat shipments.

Donald Trump, who would be ineligible to run for president again, now has higher odds of being president than Kamala Harris, the once-failed Democrat presidential candidate. Follow: @AFpost https://t.co/Iq0Cm2Z7sZ
Gavin Newsom is extremely triggered by the fact that Trump sent him a couple dozen Trump 2028 hats to troll him. The Art of the Troll is a real study. https://t.co/io8IRWJlxO
