From March to May 2025, Trump's name was removed from physical documents before he was briefed on the contents. Following the briefing in May, the DOJ and FBI prioritized editing and expediting the release of an Epstein-related video. This handling of the files has drawn criticism and concern from Epstein victims, who have expressed feelings of disdain, disgust, and fear regarding the management of the documents. Judge Berman, who oversaw Epstein's prosecution, has begun posting letters on the court docket from individuals identifying as Epstein victims, claiming they are being retraumatized by the Trump administration's approach to the files. Victims and advocates are calling for full transparency, the release of all files, and prosecution of any implicated individuals regardless of political affiliation. There are approximately 1,000 victims who were assaulted by Epstein and associates, underscoring the demand for justice and openness in the case. Additionally, some victims have described the situation as a political battle over the disclosure of grand jury transcripts related to the investigation.
