Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs signed "Jerry's Law" into law, enhancing the state's animal cruelty statutes by broadening definitions and increasing penalties for offenders. The legislation, inspired by a recent animal neglect case in Chandler, addresses a previous legal gap by making it a crime to withhold necessary medical care from pets to prevent "unreasonable suffering." The law, which will take effect on September 26, 2025, was modified during the legislative process to secure sufficient support.
