On June 4-6, 2025, multiple U.S. House subcommittees held hearings focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), biotechnology, and energy infrastructure to maintain American leadership in technological innovation and national security. Chairman Representative Rich Hudson and other members emphasized the necessity for the United States to lead globally in AI development and adoption, ensuring the federal government is equipped to implement AI effectively and safeguard taxpayer funds. Chairwoman Nancy Mace highlighted the reintroduction of the AI Training Extension Act of 2025 to prepare the federal workforce for AI advancements. Testimonies from experts, including SCSPTech President Ylli Bajraktari and Hoover Institution fellow Dr. Drew Endy, stressed the importance of investing in foundational biotechnology tools such as DNA synthesis and AI-enabled research infrastructure to sustain U.S. competitiveness against growing Chinese investments. The hearings also addressed the critical role of AI in fraud prevention, Medicaid savings estimated at up to $150 billion, and modernizing government operations. Concurrently, the House Energy Subcommittee advanced 13 bills, including the Reliable Power Act and GRID Power Act, aimed at securing reliable, affordable, and abundant energy to meet surging demands driven by AI technologies. Legislators underscored the importance of protecting the electric grid and supply chains to ensure national security. The discussions reflected a bipartisan commitment to fostering innovation while balancing regulatory modernization and economic growth, aligning with President Trump's agenda to enhance U.S. dominance in emerging technologies.
