Lovable, a Swedish AI startup focused on app development, has secured $16 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Creandum. The company, which allows users to create apps through prompting rather than coding, has rapidly expanded to 500,000 users and is generating $17 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). It has 30,000 paying customers and sees the creation of 25,000 new products daily. The platform, which reached the front pages of Product Hunt and Hacker News last year, differentiates itself by enabling the creation of production-ready software without coding knowledge. It uses a combination of technologies from OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Anthropic to generate software, and has seen the development of hundreds of commercial apps. Lovable raised a €6.8 million pre-seed funding round last October, led by Hummingbird Ventures and byFounders. Lovable's founders, Anton Osika and Fabian Hedin, aim to make software engineering accessible to the general population through AI. Osika, who previously worked on Depict.ai and developed interfaces for Stephen Hawking and with SpaceX engineers, sees Lovable as a tool for the 99% of the population without coding skills. The startup plans to further integrate with third-party services such as Supabase for databases and GitHub for code storage. Notable angel investors in the funding round include Charlie Songhurst, Adam D’Angelo, Thomas Wolf, and Eric Bernhardsson.
