Uber Seeks PE and Bank Funding for Trillion-Dollar Robotaxi Push

Uber Technologies Inc. Chief Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi said the ride-hailing company is in discussions with private-equity investors and banks to secure financing for an eventual rollout of self-driving robotaxis. Khosrowshahi described the potential market for autonomous mobility as a trillion-dollar opportunity and said Uber aims to be a significant participant. The CEO added that Uber is speaking with all major original-equipment manufacturers in the robotaxi space and singled out Tesla Inc. as both a competitor and a possible partner. He praised Tesla’s measured approach to autonomous technology and said the sector is unlikely to produce a single dominant winner.
