The U.S. government has intensified its crackdown on the Venezuelan criminal organization Tren de Aragua, designating it as a foreign terrorist organization. Giovanni Vicente Mosquera Serrano, a senior leader of Tren de Aragua and head of its operations in the United States and Colombia, has been added to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. The U.S. Department of State is offering a reward of up to $3 million for information leading to his arrest or conviction. In addition, the U.S. Treasury sanctioned six key leaders and affiliates of the gang, including Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, known as "Niño Guerrero," the top leader of Tren de Aragua, with a reward of up to $5 million for his capture. These sanctions target the gang's involvement in illicit drug trade, human smuggling and trafficking, extortion, and sexual exploitation of women and children. Federal authorities have arrested over 2,700 alleged Tren de Aragua members in the United States as part of ongoing operations to dismantle the organization. Separately, Costa Rican authorities dismantled a human trafficking network linked to Tren de Aragua that exploited Venezuelan women under false employment promises. Furthermore, the U.S. has designated the Venezuelan Cartel de los Soles as a transnational terrorist organization, accusing it of supporting Tren de Aragua and the Mexican Sinaloa Cartel. The Cartel de los Soles is reportedly led by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, according to U.S. officials. Attorney General Pam Bondi emphasized the priority of arresting violent gang members, noting the 2,711 arrests of Tren de Aragua members under the Trump administration. The U.S. government has pledged to continue efforts to eliminate these criminal organizations and protect American communities.
