Venezuelan human-rights advocate Andreína Baduel said officers from the Cuerpo de Investigaciones Científicas, Penales y Criminalísticas have maintained round-the-clock patrols and sounded sirens outside her Caracas residence, a tactic she described as psychological intimidation. Images published by broadcaster NTN24 show marked patrol cars stationed near the property, and alarms reportedly blared day and night. Baduel, whose father Raúl Isaías Baduel died in custody in 2021 and whose brother Josnar has been jailed since 2020, has become a prominent voice for the release of more than 900 people that opposition groups classify as political prisoners. She demanded an immediate end to what she called state-orchestrated harassment and urged authorities to disclose her brother’s condition, saying he is being held in isolation at El Rodeo prison. Domestic rights organizations condemned the police presence outside Baduel’s home, calling it part of a broader pattern of intimidation against critics of President Nicolás Maduro’s government. Venezuelan officials have not commented publicly on the allegations.
