Venezuelan opposition and human rights groups have reported multiple arbitrary detentions and ongoing repression by the government. Luis José Magallanes, coordinator of Vente Venezuela in Yaracuy state, was detained on July 6. Rodrigo Pérez, coordinator of Communications for Vente Venezuela in Bolívar state, was also detained by Sebin agents in Puerto Ordaz. Carlos Azuaje, an engineer and human rights activist, has been imprisoned for 200 days without trial, accused falsely of terrorism. Rafael Tudares, husband of Mariana González and son-in-law of opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia, has been detained since January, with his family having no information about his condition for 180 days. Additionally, Américo De Grazia has been incarcerated for 11 months under what his family describes as unjust imprisonment. The National College of Journalists (CNP) and the National Union of Press Workers (SNTP) condemned the vandalism of a banner displaying the photos and names of 20 detained journalists, calling it an attack on freedom of expression. The organization Un Mundo Sin Mordaza highlighted a worsening emergency in Venezuela, citing systematic violations of freedoms amid increasing repression.
