Electronic Arts and developer DICE on Monday released Update 9.2.0 for Battlefield 2042 on PlayStation, Xbox and PC, reviving the fan-favorite Iwo Jima map and adding the KFS2000 assault rifle, Lynx sniper rifle and two attack jets—the A10 Warthog and SU-25TM Frogfoot. The patch launches the “Road to Battlefield 6” event, a free 60-tier Battle Pass running until 7 October that offers more than 50 cosmetics for Battlefield 2042 and over 20 items that will carry into Battlefield 6 when the new title arrives on 10 October. The promotion follows the close of Battlefield 6’s open beta on 17 August. Separately, dataminers examining Battlefield 6 test files leaked images of two expansive maps—Mirak Valley, billed as the game’s largest launch arena, and Eastwood, expected to follow in a post-launch update. Both areas appear substantially larger than the beta map Siege of Cairo, addressing player concerns over scale. The discoveries surfaced after twin beta weekends that attracted about 520,000 concurrent players on Steam, underscoring strong interest ahead of the game’s release.
