Microsoft, under the leadership of Xbox boss Phil Spencer, continues to pursue gaming acquisitions despite its recent $69 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard. Spencer has indicated that no Xbox games are off the table for release on PS5 and expressed a desire to collaborate with mobile and Chinese developers. The company is also considering acquiring another mobile studio as it plans for its delayed app store. Spencer has shared that expansions are not mandatory for first-party titles and criticized manipulative expansions. Additionally, the highly anticipated RPG Avowed, developed by Obsidian Entertainment, has had its release date postponed due to scheduling rather than quality concerns. The game will be available on multiple platforms, including Xbox Series, Windows, Steam, Game Pass, and Battle Net, with pre-orders offering five days of early access ahead of its February 18 release. Spencer also noted that Microsoft's PC-heavy lineup this year is a historical anomaly.
