OpenAI's former researcher, Daniel Kokotajlo, has projected that by 2025 to 2028, artificial general intelligence (AGI) systems developed by OpenAI, Anthropic, or DeepMind could autonomously conduct research and potentially outperform human researchers. Kokotajlo outlined three scenarios regarding the public announcement of AGI, suggesting that automation of AGI research may precede the emergence of physical robots capable of performing tasks like plumbing. Meanwhile, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has revealed plans for new products in 2025, including AGI, intelligent agents, and an upgrade to GPT-4. Additionally, a financial perspective indicates that for OpenAI and its major investor Microsoft, AGI is defined as the point at which AI systems can generate at least $100 billion in profits. The market for AI is expected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2032.
