xAI has broadened access to Grok Imagine, the firm’s new AI image-and-video generator that creates 6- to 15-second clips from text prompts or uploaded photos. After a limited debut for SuperGrok and X Premium+ subscribers on 3–4 Aug, Elon Musk said the feature was opened to all X Premium members within a day. Support for Android followed on 5 Aug, and successive app updates (v1.1.33 through v1.1.40) added one-tap video creation, improved audio and easier sharing to X, Instagram and TikTok. On 7 Aug, Musk announced that video generation would be free to every U.S. user of the Grok app for “the next few days,” a promotion that quickly pushed the software to No. 3 in Apple’s Productivity chart. Third-party reviews from 9to5Mac and PCMag describe Grok Imagine as one of the few publicly available, no-cost image-to-video tools, though they note mixed accuracy and an experimental “Spicy” mode that permits limited adult content. Musk said performance would improve “almost every day” as xAI refines the model.
