Anthropic, an AI startup backed by Amazon, has introduced a new premium subscription plan for its chatbot, Claude, named the Max plan. This plan is designed for power users and offers significantly higher usage limits compared to the existing Pro plan, which costs $20 per month. The Max plan comes in two tiers: the Expanded Usage tier at $100 per month provides five times the usage of the Pro plan, while the Maximum Flexibility tier at $200 per month offers twenty times the usage. The plan also includes priority access to new AI models and features, such as the upcoming voice mode for Claude and the new Claude 3.7 Sonnet model. The introduction of the Max plan is a strategic move by Anthropic to compete directly with OpenAI's ChatGPT Pro, which also costs $200 per month. Unlike ChatGPT Pro, which offers unlimited usage, the Max plan has set limits, though they are considerably higher than those of the Pro plan. Subscribers to the Max plan will also receive priority access to new AI models and features, including the upcoming voice mode for Claude. Anthropic's decision to launch the Max plan responds to demands from its most active users for expanded access to Claude.
