A Lufthansa Boeing 747-8I operating flight LH510 from Frankfurt to Buenos Aires made an emergency landing at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport on Tuesday, 8 July, after repeated failed attempts to land in the Argentine capital amid dense fog. Air-traffic recordings show the crew twice attempted to reach Buenos Aires’ Ezeiza airport, diverted to Asunción for roughly an hour, and then tried again before fuel reserves became critical and crew duty hours neared their regulatory limit. The pilots declared a “mayday” while en-route to São Paulo, requesting priority handling. The wide-body jet touched down safely at about 13:00 local time with fire and rescue crews positioned as a precaution. Lufthansa said passengers received assistance on arrival and no injuries were reported. The carrier is arranging onward transport while it reviews the incident with aviation authorities.
