An IndiGo Airbus operating as flight 6E-6271 from Delhi to Goa was diverted to Mumbai on Wednesday evening after one of its engines failed mid-air, according to people familiar with the incident. The aircraft touched down safely at 9:42 p.m. local time at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport under full emergency conditions. No injuries to passengers or crew were reported. IndiGo said a “technical snag” was detected en route to Manohar International Airport in Goa, prompting the pilot to follow standard procedures and request an immediate diversion. The airline added that the jet will undergo detailed inspections and maintenance in Mumbai, while an alternative aircraft was arranged to carry passengers onward. IndiGo apologised for the disruption and emphasised that the safety of customers, crew and aircraft remains its highest priority.
