Argentine second-division side Club Atlético San Telmo said teenager Camilo Ernesto Nuin died on Wednesday while undergoing knee surgery at Clínica Espora in the Buenos Aires suburb of Adrogué. The 18-year-old midfielder had been scheduled for a procedure to repair meniscal and cruciate-ligament damage, a routine operation for professional footballers. Neither the club nor local authorities have disclosed the precise cause of death. An autopsy has been requested as part of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, according to local media reports. Nuin joined San Telmo in 2022 after progressing through the youth academies of Boca Juniors and Independiente. The Argentine Football Association, through its president Claudio Tapia, expressed condolences to the player’s family, friends and team-mates. San Telmo has closed its facilities temporarily as a mark of respect.
