Amazon has announced a plan to invest approximately AU$20 billion (around $13 billion USD) in Australia over the next five years, from 2025 through 2029, to expand its data center infrastructure. This investment marks the largest global technology commitment ever made in Australia by a single company. The funding will be directed toward increasing server capacity and supporting the growing demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) services. The expansion will focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS) operations in key Australian cities, including Sydney and Melbourne. Additionally, the investment includes the construction of three new solar farms in Victoria, reflecting a commitment to renewable energy alongside infrastructure growth.
