James O'Connor has been named in Australia's 36-player squad for the upcoming British and Irish Lions Test series, marking a return to the Wallabies 12 years after his last Lions campaign in 2013. The 35-year-old flyhalf, who recently helped the Crusaders secure a Super Rugby title, is set to earn his first Test cap since 2022 before joining the Leicester Tigers. Wallabies head coach Joe Schmidt emphasized the challenge of balancing continuity with form and freshness in squad selection, ultimately opting for experience by recalling O'Connor. Alongside O'Connor, players such as Taniela Tupou, Rory Arnold, Rob Valetini, and Tom Lynagh have also been included in the squad. The first Test is scheduled to take place in Brisbane.
