The British and Irish Lions have drafted England hooker Jamie George into their touring squad after first-choice No. 2 Luke Cowan-Dickie suffered a suspected concussion in Saturday’s 48-0 win over an AUNZ Invitational XV in Adelaide. George, 34, is set to join the party in Brisbane next week, giving head coach Andy Farrell experienced cover ahead of the opening Test against Australia on 19 July. George, a veteran of the 2017 and 2021 Lions tours, had been scheduled to co-captain England in their second Test against Argentina in San Juan. England head coach Steve Borthwick has replaced him with Saracens teammate Theo Dan, while Curtis Langdon comes onto the bench. Farrell also confirmed that Ireland centre Garry Ringrose will miss the first Test after failing concussion protocols, though he could return for the mid-week fixture against a First Nations and Pasifika XV on 22 July. The Lions’ three-match series against the Wallabies concludes in Sydney on 2 August.
