New South Wales (NSW) police are investigating a targeted shooting incident that occurred outside a kebab shop and a nearby tobacconist on South Parade in Auburn, Sydney's southwest. Three people were shot, including a female kebab shop worker who was critically injured. The attack is believed to have been carried out by two men hired via Airtasker. This incident is part of an ongoing escalation in Sydney's gangland violence. In related developments, NSW police have charged over 30 individuals with 60 offenses during a three-day crackdown known as Operation Soteria, targeting gang-related activities across western and northern parts of the state. Separately, NSW is facing severe weather conditions as a bomb cyclone approaches the coast, bringing heavy rainfall of up to 200mm in some regions, strong winds, hazardous surf, and the risk of flash flooding. The weather system has led to numerous flight cancellations by a major Australian airline and warnings for residents to prepare for the intense storm expected to impact areas from the Mid-North Coast to the Illawarra.
