A 38-year-old man has died and five other people—including a five-year-old girl—were shot when a gunman opened fire around 8:46 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Spaulding and Queensberry Avenues in northwest Baltimore, police said. Officers responding to reports of gunfire found six victims gathered outside a residence; the man was taken to hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead early Sunday, while the child was treated for a wound to her hand that officials described as non-life-threatening. The other victims—a 23-year-old woman and three men aged 32, 33 and 52—also sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening. Police Commissioner Richard Worley told reporters the group appeared to be “sitting outside … having some crabs” when the attack began. Detectives have not identified a motive, and no arrests have been made. The Baltimore Police Department’s homicide unit is leading the inquiry and urged anyone with information to contact investigators or the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line.
