A series of overnight shootings on Chicago’s West Side left at least two people dead and more than a dozen others wounded early Sunday, according to Chicago Police. Investigators are examining whether the incidents, which occurred within a span of roughly one hour, are connected. The most deadly attack unfolded at about 2:48 a.m. in the 100 block of North La Crosse Avenue in Austin, where six people were shot. Police said a 22-year-old woman died at the scene and five others were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds. Roughly an hour earlier, officers responded to another scene in West Garfield Park. Four people—including boys aged 15 and 16—were hit by gunfire in the 4500 block of West Wilcox Street. One 28-year-old man was in serious condition with head and neck wounds, while the remaining victims were listed as stable. Authorities also reported additional, separate shootings in Austin that brought the city’s weekend tally to at least ten people shot, two of them fatally. No arrests have been announced, and detectives in Area 4 are leading the investigations. In a separate incident, Aurora police urged residents near Station Boulevard and New York Street, about 40 miles west of Chicago, to remain indoors after a 6:08 a.m. shooting. The suspect remains at large, and police have not disclosed whether anyone was injured.
