Azerbaijan has commenced the export of natural gas to Syria, delivering 1.2 billion cubic meters annually through Turkey. The gas is sourced from the BP-led Shah Deniz gas field and transported via the Turkish city of Kilis to the Harjalah station in the northern Aleppo countryside. This project is financed by Qatar to support electricity production in Syria. The initiative follows a prior Qatari-funded phase launched in March that supplied 400 megawatts of electricity per day to Syria through Jordan. The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) confirmed the annual gas export volume and the transit route through Turkey.
