The National Citizen Party (NCP) of Bangladesh, led by Convener Nahid Islam, has declared it will not participate in any future elections unless the 'July Charter' is implemented and incorporated into the new constitution. Islam emphasized the need for reforms and justice before elections can be held and has called on the public to choose young and alternative leadership. The NCP has threatened to resume street protests in Dhaka starting August 3 if the charter is not included. Meanwhile, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has instructed all relevant authorities to complete preparations for the 13th national parliamentary election by December 2025, aiming for the election to be held before Ramadan next year. Yunus also directed law enforcement agencies to ensure all security and electoral arrangements are finalized within this timeframe. Election Commission officials clarified that no political party will be assigned the Shapla (water lily) symbol in the upcoming election. Additionally, the National Consensus Commission's Vice-Chairman Dr. Ali Riaz noted that political parties are largely in agreement on proposals for state reforms. The interim government expressed its commitment to conducting a credible election and emphasized the importance of creating a conducive environment through necessary reforms.
