Colgate-Palmolive has ceased production of its toothpaste variant, Colgate Total Prevenção Ativa Clean Mint, following thousands of consumer complaints reporting allergic reactions. The Brazilian health regulatory agency, Anvisa, initially imposed a sales suspension on the product at the end of March 2025 due to these adverse effects. Despite the suspension, the volume of complaints continued to rise, exceeding 1,200 reports by early July. In response, Colgate-Palmolive officially announced the discontinuation of the toothpaste's manufacture. The decision follows precautionary measures taken by Anvisa to protect consumers from further exposure to the product, which had been linked to multiple cases of oral lesions and other allergic reactions.
