Dutch forward Memphis Depay has issued a formal ultimatum to Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, demanding payment of R$6.1 million he says is owed for the club’s 2025 Campeonato Paulista title bonus and overdue image-rights fees. Lawyers for the player first notified the club on 15 May, during the administration of then-president Augusto Melo, and sent a second notice this week after receiving no response. The latest letter gives Corinthians until the end of 25 June to settle the debt; otherwise Depay says he will not report for pre-season training on 28 June and could suspend all professional activities. Melo, who was removed from office last month, confirmed the arrears and said salaries are current but image-rights payments stalled after his suspension. The club’s interim board said it learned of the dispute only with the new notice and is reviewing steps to resolve it. Depay, under contract until July 2026 and instrumental in Corinthians’ state-title win, has scored 13 goals and provided 14 assists in 42 matches for the São Paulo side.
