Intel Corporation is undertaking a global workforce reduction as part of a broad restructuring effort. The company is cutting more than 500 jobs in Oregon, affecting facilities in Aloha and Hillsboro starting July 15, according to a regulatory filing and WARN notice. Additionally, Intel plans to lay off 584 employees in Northern California this month. These layoffs coincide with Intel's challenges in the semiconductor industry, including the CEO's admission that the company has fallen out of the top 10 semiconductor firms and is behind in the AI competition. Meanwhile, Nvidia has been expanding its investments, notably in Israel, where about 100 former Intel employees have joined Nvidia in the past three months. Intel currently employs around 4,000 hardware and software engineers in Israel, many of whom work in areas relevant to Nvidia's core business.
