McDonald's Corp. returned its once-popular Snack Wrap to U.S. menus on 10 July, eight years after discontinuing the item in 2016. The relaunched wrap—available nationwide after 10:30 a.m.—features a McCrispy chicken strip, shredded lettuce and a cheddar-Monterey Jack blend rolled in a flour tortilla. Customers can choose between Spicy, which carries a habanero kick, and milder Ranch versions. The item is priced at $2.99 a la carte or as part of a combo that includes two wraps, fries and a drink. McDonald’s framed the move as a response to persistent customer petitions and part of a broader effort to refresh its value menu as the chain works to reverse a rare sales slump. The comeback has intensified competition in the fast-food chicken category. Popeyes is offering free Chicken Wraps with a $5 digital order from 10–13 July, Sonic added two $1.99 Crispy Chicken Tender Wraps on 8 July, and Taco Bell has discounted its own crispy chicken offerings to $2.40 for rewards members. The flurry of promotions has been dubbed a “wrap war” as chains vie for price-sensitive consumers.
