Meta Platforms has appointed longtime executive Connor Hayes as head of its Threads text-based social network, according to an internal memo cited by Axios. Hayes will assume the role in mid-September, giving the two-year-old service its first dedicated chief since launch. Hayes, who joined Meta in 2011, has held a range of product leadership posts across the company. Instagram chief Adam Mosseri has overseen Threads since it debuted in 2023 and will continue to run Instagram. The leadership change underscores Meta’s effort to accelerate growth at Threads, which competes with X and other real-time conversation platforms.
