Samsung Electronics used its Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn on 9 July 2025 to overhaul its foldable line-up, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 and a lower-priced Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. The seventh-generation devices are markedly thinner and lighter, with the Fold 7 measuring 8.9 millimetres when shut—26 percent slimmer than its predecessor—and the Flip 7 trimmed to a 13.7 millimetre clamshell profile. Both models carry an IP48 rating and ship with Android 16 and One UI 8, backed by seven years of software and security updates. The $1,999.99 Galaxy Z Fold 7 swaps last year’s stylus layer for a larger 6.5-inch outer screen and an 8-inch tablet-style display inside, driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite and a 200-megapixel main camera. Samsung says the redesigned OLED panel survived 500,000 folds in Bureau Veritas testing—double the previous rating—and retains 25 watt wired and 15 watt wireless charging for its 4,400 mAh battery. Positioned at $1,099.99, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 adopts Samsung’s 3-nanometre Exynos 2500 chip, a 50 megapixel primary sensor, and an edge-to-edge 4.1-inch cover display that reaches 2,600 nits. The new $899 Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE pares costs with a smaller external screen, 4,000 mAh battery and 8 GB of RAM, but retains the foldable form factor and Android 16. All three devices are available for pre-order now and ship from 25 July in select markets. Samsung’s push toward thinner hardware follows the 8.8 millimetre Honor Magic V5 unveiled earlier in the month and comes as the Korean company confirms plans to commercialise a tri-fold smartphone before the end of 2025. The expanded portfolio is aimed at defending Samsung’s dominant share of the premium foldable segment while lowering the entry price for new buyers.
Believe it or not, Samsung is (already) tipped to improve the undeniably stunning and popular Galaxy Z Fold 7 in as many as three key departments for next year's Galaxy Z Fold 8. https://t.co/UfFII3nRPB
