Uber Technologies Inc. has announced a series of executive changes, including the appointment of Nikesh Arora, CEO of Palo Alto Networks, to its board of directors. The move was disclosed in a regulatory filing and comes amid a broader leadership reshuffle at the ride-hailing company. Arora, who has served as chairman and CEO of Palo Alto Networks since 2018 and previously held executive roles at Softbank, Google, and T-Mobile, joins Uber's board. He has also served on the boards of Softbank, Sprint, Colgate-Palmolive, and others, and currently sits on the board of a Swiss luxury-goods holding company. For his board service, Arora will receive a $60,000 annual cash retainer and $300,000 in restricted stock units. Andrew Macdonald, previously head of global mobility, has been promoted to president and chief operating officer, Uber's first COO since 2019, following the retirement of Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, who led Uber's delivery business for over 13 years. Prabhjeet Singh Parameswaran, former head of Uber's India and Asia-Pacific operations, has been elevated to head of global mobility—his second elevation in just over a year—and will join Uber's global executive leadership team, reporting directly to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. The management changes come as Uber faces competition in the robotaxi and delivery markets, including Tesla's upcoming robotaxi launch, DoorDash's recent acquisitions, and Uber's ongoing partnerships with companies such as Waymo in Austin and Atlanta.
