The following day, Charlottetown withdrew permission for a 24 July waterfront concert, and Quebec City terminated a contract for a free 26 July show at ExpoCité, saying the promoter had not disclosed the ‘controversial’ nature of the act. Moncton, N.B., also scrapped a booking scheduled for 24 July. Local officials said the decisions were made after reassessing “evolving safety and security considerations” as complaints mounted during regional Pride events. Feucht, who unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Congress as a Republican in 2020 and has campaigned against abortion and transgender rights, relocated the Halifax-area concert to a private site in rural Shubenacadie, N.S., and said other Canadian dates in Ottawa, Toronto and Western provinces remain on his “Revive in 25” tour itinerary. The cancellations underscore heightened tensions around politically charged performers using public venues in Canada and reflect a growing willingness by authorities to intervene when events are judged to pose security risks or conflict with venue policies on inclusion.
