Former WWE champion Drew McIntyre used a Sports Illustrated Now interview to criticize what he sees as the company’s preference for wrestlers linked to the Fatu family, which includes prominent members of the Bloodline storyline. “I suggest a lot of the talent backstage maybe change their last name to Fatu,” McIntyre said, adding that he is “lucky” his own performances keep him visible in an increasingly crowded roster. McIntyre, who last held the WWE title in early 2021, also declared that “it’s time for Drew McIntyre to be WWE Champion again.” His remarks come as WWE prepares its summer touring schedule, with championship storylines for its forthcoming premium live events still unsettled.
