China conducted its second comprehensive rehearsal in Beijing for the upcoming military parade scheduled on September 3, 2025, to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The rehearsal involved approximately 40,000 participants and featured a convoy of tanks, advanced armored vehicles, military drones, robotic dogs, and a range of new weaponry, including hypersonic missiles and extra-large uncrewed underwater vehicles (XLUUVs). The parade preparations highlight China's focus on showcasing its growing high-tech military capabilities, including hypersonic glide vehicles, laser-equipped tanks, and advanced destroyers such as the Type-055. The event will be attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping and foreign dignitaries, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition to the parade, giant flower beds themed on the anniversary have been installed along Beijing’s Chang’an Avenue. Taiwan has criticized the event, accusing Beijing of distorting historical facts. A press conference by China’s State Council Information Office is scheduled to provide further details on the parade preparations. The military parade aims to demonstrate China's transition into an information network-centric warfare era, with new vehicles emphasizing longer range, better energy efficiency, autonomous technology, and networked data-linking.
