China is preparing for a large-scale military parade scheduled for September 3 in Beijing's Tian'anmen Square to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The parade will involve tens of thousands of troops, over 100 aircraft, and several hundred ground vehicles, all featuring domestically produced, active-duty main battle equipment. President Xi Jinping, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, will review the troop formations lining Chang'an Avenue. The event marks the first military parade since China embarked on a new journey to advance modernization on all fronts. It will showcase a new structural layout of the Chinese armed forces and demonstrate system-based combat capabilities through joint armament formations organized to reflect real combat functions. New-generation weaponry will be unveiled, including hypersonic precision-strike weapons, advanced tanks, carrier-based aircraft, fighter jets, unmanned and counter-unmanned systems, cyber and electronic warfare units, directed-energy weapons, electronic jamming systems, and new drones. Notable hypersonic missiles expected to debut include the YJ-15, YJ-17, YJ-19, and YJ-20. The parade, the 19th since the founding of the People's Republic of China, aims to signal China's commitment to peace, international fairness, and justice, while also underscoring its military modernization and sovereignty interests. Preparations are reportedly complete, with multiple rehearsals conducted using advanced technologies such as AI motion capture for training corrections. The event is also expected to feature the largest military band in the history of Chinese military parades, comprising over 1,000 officers and soldiers. The parade follows heightened international attention amid geopolitical tensions and is seen as a demonstration of China's growing military capabilities.
