Hyundai Engineering & Construction, as part of the public-private partnership 'Team Korea,' has secured financing worth 750 billion won (approximately $560 million) for a solar power project in Texas, United States, and has commenced construction. Meanwhile, Chinese state-owned China Huaneng Group announced the launch of the world's most powerful direct-drive floating offshore wind turbine in Fuqing, Fujian Province. This turbine has a capacity of 17 megawatts and features the largest rotor diameter globally. It is expected to generate 68 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity annually and will undergo demonstration testing in the Yangjiang sea area of Guangdong. Despite these advancements, a recent report highlights that offshore wind power has yet to meet its potential in decarbonizing China's coastal manufacturing regions, calling for increased policy support. In Taiwan, Danish renewable energy company Orsted secured approximately €2.7 billion in financing from a consortium of 25 banks and five export credit agencies for its offshore wind farm. Additionally, wind power capacity exceeded 5.5 gigawatts in the first half of 2025, according to the Hydrogen and Wind Energy Association (HWEA).
