The 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit is scheduled to take place in Tianjin, China, from August 31 to September 1, 2025. Chinese President Xi Jinping will chair the summit, including the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO and the "SCO Plus" Meeting, delivering keynote speeches. The event will host leaders from over 20 countries and heads of 10 international organizations, marking the largest SCO summit in history. Attendees are expected to sign a joint declaration, approve the SCO development strategy through 2035, and adopt documents on security and economic cooperation. The summit aims to strengthen strategic security cooperation, regional stability, and economic ties among member states. Tianjin, a major port city in northern China, is finalizing preparations and will power the summit venue entirely with green electricity. Since the SCO's inception in 2001, China's trade with member states has grown more than 30-fold, reaching a bilateral trade volume of over 3.65 trillion yuan. The summit is viewed as a critical platform for expanding alliances and fostering cooperation in the Eurasian region, with analysts considering it a landmark event for the organization's future development.
