Three suspected vehicle burglars were killed and two others were injured early Wednesday when a black sedan fleeing Anaheim police overturned on the northbound 5 Freeway near Brookhurst Street. Officers had responded around 2:45 a.m. to reports of a car break-in near Euclid Street and La Palma Avenue and began pursuing the vehicle when the driver refused to pull over. The chase lasted only minutes; authorities said the sedan lost control shortly before 3 a.m., rolled over and came to rest on the freeway. No other vehicles were involved. The three occupants pronounced dead at the scene have not been identified. The surviving passengers were transported to hospital, one listed in serious and the other in stable condition. During the pursuit officers saw objects being thrown from the car onto the roadway, according to Sgt. Matt Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department. A SigAlert closed several northbound lanes until mid-morning while the California Highway Patrol, which is leading the investigation, documented the scene and cleared debris.
